Emergency Preparedness

Seguin Township Emergency Plan (pdf)

Seguin Township is moving towards an integrated Emergency Management Program. The Emergency Management Act outlines three levels of preparedness for Municipalities. At the end of 2004 Seguin will have achieved the Essential Level of the program and will be working towards the Enhanced Level.

The Essential Level of preparedness will establish an Emergency Plan for Seguin Township, identify the communities Critical Infrastructure and put in place an Education Program for residents. Exercises and Training for key Municipal Employees and Elected Officials will have been completed.

Recent emergencies in the area; Shawanaga Train Derailment or the Peterborough Flood, have identified the need for local, large scale emergency training and planning. Seguin Township is working hard to provide the knowledge and training that will allow its Emergency Management Team a level of expertise to mitigate large scale emergencies.

Provided here is information that will help to prepare Seguin Ratepayers for large scale emergencies. These fact sheets and links will guide residents if an emergency situation were to occur. Special attention should be given to the "72 hour Emergency Kit" and "Shelter in Place" information. The best defense during an emergency is information and knowledge. Lets all work together to provide a safe community.
